Turmeric 2018: Top Five Ways to Consume Turmeric For Better Health31 December 2017 | Admin GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR TURMERIC 2017 was a fantastic year for turmeric, but we anticipate even better things in 2018. Here at Stay Fresh Organics, we're looking to have the happiest and healthiest year possible, so we'll be incorporating lots of turmeric into our diets to make the most of its many health benefits. Turmeric appears to work best when combined with other foods - mainly healthy fats and black pepper, so several of these recipes include them. Let's get going with a round-up of what we believe to be the most effective ways to consume the sunshine spice. 1. GOLDEN PASTE We think golden paste is the number one way to consume turmeric for health purposes. Turmeric paste combines four ingredients: turmeric powder, a healthy fat/oil, ground black pepper, and water. Together they create a mixture that is a powerful anti-inflammatory aid to many conditions and health complaints. Black peppercorns contain an enzyme called piperine, which enhances turmeric absorption in the digestive tract. A healthy/fat oil is used to help the stomach properly dissolve the turmeric. Golden paste is easy to make and takes no longer than 20 minutes. See the full step by step guide on how to make it here. 2. TURMERIC LATTE Turmeric latte is a delicious, soothing and very healthy warm drink. It's perfect for unwinding during the cold winter months and a great alternative to coffee. It combines milk/coconut milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, and honey to make an anti-inflammatory elixir. We can't get enough! See the full recipe here. 3. ADD TO A CURRY You can make a home-made curry mix with black pepper and other spices. Add this mix to a curry base that includes a healthy fat like butter or ghee and your body will more easily absorb the turmeric. Like golden paste above, this is a great way to maximise turmeric's many health benefits and perhaps the most traditional way to consume it. 4. TURMERIC JUICE/NON ALCOHOLIC COCKTAIL Who says fizzy drinks have to be unhealthy? Drop the junk and try this easy to make, spice-laced alternative with lots of health benefits. Add a teaspoon of turmeric, ginger, a pinch of black pepper, and some freshly squeezed orange to a jug of carbonated water. Stir well or blend and pour. Tasty, healthy AND guilt free. Also, try turmeric in a multitude of smoothies and juices. Add coconut oil and black pepper to increase absorption.
5. SPICE UP YOUR FOOD Add colour and flavour to scrambled eggs, omelettes, oats, cereal, yogurt, rice, roasted vegetables, soups, marinades, salad dressings, and falafels. The list is endless - so get creative! By using turmeric in some of the ways above it should have a positive impact on your health and well-being. Let us know if you have any recipe ideas or questions. Here's to a fantastic 2018, all the very best of good health to you. Article by David.
