Are you organically certified? Yes. The Soil Association organically certifies our Organic True Cinnamon Powder and all of our other products. What are the ingredients? Our Organic True Cinnamon Powder is 100% organic ground cinnamon - nothing is added or removed during processing
Where is your cinnamon grown? It is grown on organic farms in Sri Lanka. Cinnamon powder comes from the ground reddish-brown inner bark of several evergreen trees from the genus cinnamomum, part of the Lauraceae family of plants.
What does 'true' cinnamon powder (Ceylon) mean? True cinnamon powder (Ceylon) refers to a particular species of cinnamon called Cinnamomum Verum, which is grown mostly in Sri Lanka, but also India, Madagascar & Brazil
What's the difference between Cassia and true cinnamon (Ceylon)? There are hundreds of types of cinnamon, but the main two species of cinnamon, sold commercially, are true cinnamon (Ceylon) and Cassia. They have a similar flavour, but Ceylon tends to be sweeter with a more delicate texture. Ceylon is rarer and generally seen as superior. However, some people prefer Cassia, and it's the variety your supermarket will most likely stock
Does your cinnamon contain GMOs (genetically modified organisms)? No. We only buy from organically certified farms. They are not permitted to use genetically modified organisms
Is your cinnamon irradiated? It is non-irradiated, which maintains the nutritional integrity of the product
What is coumarin? Coumarin is a compound within Cassia cinnamon. It is reported to not be healthy for the body in large quantities.
Does cinnamon cure type 2 diabetes? We are not doctors, so we do not give out medical advice. However, studies have been completed on cinnamon, and it would appear that cinnamon can have a positive effect on the body. There's lots of research out there worth looking at, and here's a link to a study on type 2 diabetes
